Projects and Partnerships

ATE implements relevant projects for the betterment of the employers and the nation at large. For many years now we have been into different projects which are important to our work service delivery to members, capacity building and strengthened ATE representation.

Various projects are in progress including Female Future Tanzania, Ajira Sawa Program, TVET Projects, Economic Empowerment Disability Inclusion and Social Dialogue.

Female Future Programme

The Female Future Programme in Tanzania was introduced in 2015 with the aim of strengthening gender equality in the workplace, improving women’s representation in management decision-making processes as well as draw women to the top positions of the private and public sectors as part of the efforts to ensure sufficient qualified women in all organisations and leadership positions. The Programme started in Norway about 15 years ago by ATE’s sister organisation in Norway known as Confederation of the Norwegian Enterprise (NHO).

The programme is delivered in three modules: Leadership. Rhetoric and Board Competence for 14 days spread over 9 Months. Through these modules, the ladies benefit and connect strategically to improve their performance, personal and organisational success and at the same time they have self-growth, self-awareness and skills development.

Ajira Sawa Program

This is a program done by ATE in collaboration with International Finance Corporation (IFC) which is a country-wide multi-stakeholder program that will work with the private sector to reduce gender gaps across employment, leadership and entrepreneurship and demonstrate the business case of investing in women. Through this program, the participating companies make voluntary commitments to advance women’s representation in the workforce as leaders and employees, and women’s participation as entrepreneurs in corporate value chains. The Ajira Sawa will support companies to implement gender smart business solutions that promote gender equality and help improve business performance.

Economic Empowerment Disability inclusion

ATE has started a project called Economic Empowerment Disability Inclusion in collaboration with Sightsavers International to reach the overall goal of enhancing proportionate access to formal employment for people with disabilities. This project is designed to work with public and private sectors including employers across multiple sectors to build their confidence of Individual employers so to have more inclusive practices aligned to the UN Convention on the rights of Persons with Disabilities (UNCRPD article 27).

In this project, ATE will bring together employers and capacitate them to create and implement inclusive environment in their workplace, facilitate establishment of an active National Business Disabilities Network (NBDN) and support people with disabilities to access employment, business development services, internship, and mentorship opportunities.

Social Dialogue

The project focuses on improving the business environment and enhancing relationship cooperation between Employers and Workers on issues that are of common interest to both parties. Issues of concern currently are collective bargaining agreement, ETA etc
